There's Never Been A Better Time To Buy an E-Bike!

The Electric-Assisted Bicycle Rebate program is designed to reduce the cost for Minnesota residents to buy a new e-bike at eligible retailers. The rebate is worth 50-75% of the cost of an e-bike and qualifying accessories, up to a maximum of $1,500.

Applications open June 5th, 2024!

How It Works:

Apply for a rebate certificate using the application portal.
If approved, you will receive a rebate certificate via email.
You will have two months to go to an approved retailer (us!) and purchase your new e-bike and accessories.
We will apply your discount amount, listed on the rebate certificate, at the time of purchase.

An eligible individual must:

Be at least 15 years old at the time of application
Be a Minnesota resident in the current year and previous year
Not have been claimed as a dependent in the previous tax year

An e-bike rebate certificate is valued at 50-75% of the value of eligible items, up to $1,500. The percentage depends on an applicant's income.

The number of rebate certificates issued each year will be very limited based on the funds available. The legislation allocates $2 million per year in 2024 and 2025 for administration of the program and rebates. The program is set to expire in 2026.

The rebate certificate applies to a new electric-assisted bicycle (e-bike) and qualifying accessories purchased at the same time. Qualifying accessories include a bike helmet, lights, lock, luggage rack, basket, bag or backpack, fenders, or reflective clothing.

Yes, though the rebate lowers the purchase price, sales tax must be paid on the full retail amount of the purchase.

Yes, individuals who use the rebate on qualifying purchases will receive Form 1099-MISC for the value of their rebate. Use this form when filing your tax year 2024 income tax return.
